- Microfibre Cloths

Steps To Clean Shower Glass
Next, follow these steps to clean your shower glass:
STEP 1: PRELIMINARY WIPE DOWN
Firstly, do a preliminary wipe down of the glass using your microfibre cloth. If there is debris or visible dirt, dust it away or wipe it away with cloth and water alone. You can even spray it with your shower head!
STEP 2: USE GLASS CLEANER AND SQUEEGEE
Secondly, use a squeegee or glass wiper to wipe away the excess moisture on the surfaces. Then, spray or apply glass cleaning detergent onto the surface. (This would depend on the brand and type of glass cleaner you purchased from your supermarket or hardware store.) Wipe down again using your squeegee. Click here to learn about squeegee and how to use it properly!
STEP 3: REMOVE STUBBORN STAINS AND WATER SPOTS
Thirdly, if your glass is not fully cleaned, or there are stubborn water spots or stains, use this method. Spray the glass surface area copiously with your vinegar. Leave it to sit for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, mix equal parts of salt and baking soda into a paste (with tiny bit of water). Subsequently, apply this paste onto the glass areas with stains and water spots. The sizzling and chemical cleansing reaction should get rid of unwanted stains.
STEP 4: DEEPER CLEANING OF SHOWER GLASS
Lastly, if your glass is still not sparkling and shiny, repeat steps one to three once. Instead of using the glass cleaning detergent, you can use 3-5 drops of dishwashing soap stirred into a small cup of plain water too! The soap would dissolve oil and soap scum on the glass too.

7 Golden Tips For Cleaning Your Shower Glass And Taking Care Of It
- Always test your cleaning method and tools on a small area first. Should there be an adverse effect, at least only a small part is affected!
- Avoid using hard bristle brushes or materials that will scratch glass.
- Do not forget to clean both sides of the glass surface!
- Do not miss out cleaning the corners and edges – this includes the dried sealant (the “rubbery silicone” material) that holds your glass in place.
- Prevention is better than cure, so make a diligent habit to wipe away the excess droplets and moisture from the glass as soon as you can
- It definitely helps by keeping a small handy squeegee beside the shower glass (bonus: you can use cheap and readily available rubber suction hooks and S hooks!)
- Consider water treatment or softener – this is more applicable for overseas residents because water in Singapore is often soft enough! Read here about this expensive solution can be used not just to reduce water spots and mineral deposits, but also protect your pipes and tanks.
