Why You Need To Clean Bathroom Light Fixtures

Most toilet cleaning routines would not include this. However, at MEIDE, we believe in detailed and in depth cleaning. Bathroom lightings that are easily accessible should be cleaned. Even the lights higher up and on the ceiling can be cleaned!

Did you know that the toilet is the perfect harbor for germs and mold? The ceiling, fixtures and lightings are not spared too. Hence, we recommend cleaning your light fixtures at least once a month to curb these problems. Our bathroom cleaning guide will certainly give you all you need to know to clean the bathroom deeply, safely and efficiently!

  5. Microfiber Towels x 3-4
  6. Basin for cleaning solution
  7. Scouring sponges / rags x2-3

Next, ensure you have sufficient quantities of these, or top up at the supermarket first!

  1. Dish Soap
  2. Flour
  3. White distilled vinegar
  4. Salt

7 Important Safety Measures Before Cleaning Lighting

Before proceeding to clean lighting fixtures in the washroom or toilet, we need to reinforce these precautionary measures:

  1. Ensure the floor is dry;
  2. Ensure the electricity mains are shut off;
  3. Do not clean the lights if any part of you is wet. Handling electrical components with wet fingers poses high risk of electrocution!
  4. For additional safety, use rubber gloves and boots, and switch off both the mains and secondary switches.
  5. Place a sign as required to prevent someone else from accidentally switching it back on whilst you are in the midst of cleaning.
  6. Use a ladder with rubber stoppers and base to prevent falls. This is especially pertinent for lights higher up or on the ceiling.
  7. Only switch back on the electricity when you have finished all the steps below, described in detail on how to clean lighting fixtures in the toilet.

How To Clean Your Bathroom Doors

Yes, your doors in the house, including the bathroom doors, should be cleaned, about once a month too!

In this section, we teach you how to clean the bathroom doors. At MEIDE, we espouse cleaning the doors and partitions in our toilet cleaning routine. Remember, every surface is an attractive home for germs and mildew to latch onto, with the humidity of a bathroom. Depending on the material of the doors and partition, different cleaning methods should be used.

For glass doors, refer to our previous article on “How To Clean Shower Glass”.

For wooden or metal doors, simply follow the same steps elucidated under “Cleaning Toilet Shelves and Cabinets” here. Read on – do not miss the door handles and hinges!

How To Clean Your Door Handles and Hinges

Importantly too, during your toilet cleaning, keep an eye out for the door handles, locks and hinges. These steps apply not just to bathroom doors, but all doors and hinges in the house! These can be polished easily.

6 Quick Steps To Clean (and Polish) Your Door Handle and Hinges

  1. First, just dab it with a clean microfiber cloth, which is lightly soaked in a solution of dish soap and water. This will remove oil and grease.
  2. Furthermore, you can make a metal door handle shining bright by polishing it. Utilize a solution of flour, white distilled vinegar and salt – about 1 spoonful of each.
  3. Again, dab it onto the surface as desired.
  4. Leave the mixture or paste on the surface for about five minutes.
  5. Rinse it off thoroughly with a clean wet cloth.
  6. Buff it as a final step with a dry clean cloth (100% cotton, microfiber, or dedicated polishing cloth all work fine).

Viola! Your knobs and hinges should be twinkling like a diamond!
